Кто Мы?
Станислава Рейзин и Александр Бернштейн - приятно познакомиться :). В ноябре 2005го мы поехала в отпуск и забыли вернуться - уж очень интересен оказался мир. Теперь мы делаем всё возможное, чтобы сохранить кочевой образ жизни, но при этом не превратится в бродяг - фотографируем, работаем дайвмастерами, пишем путеводители и статьи на русском и английском, разрабатываем маршруты для тур-компаний, и многое другое.

Мы исколесили почти всю Центральную и Южную Америку где и поняли что, для нас, жизнь без приключений - это просто не жизнь.

Июль 2008-го до Мая 2009-го мы провели в этнозоологической экспедиции с [info]vdinets по Африке, результатом которой стал наш уникальный путеводитель натуралиста - Дикая Африка (скоро на ваших прилавках).

Июнь до сентября 2009-го был проведен в Индонезии и Малайзии где мы пытались написать мини-путеводитель и познакомились с чудесными путешественниками, лидерами российской травел тусовки, [info]masha_kvashonka, [info]pavlyuk и другими.

15-го декабря (2009) мы отправляемся обратно в Африку для разработки маршрутов и сафари по Кении, Намибии, и другим странам Черного Континента, куда как русскоязычные гиды-натуралисты, будем водить авторские туры. Судя по всему, товарищи, мы переезжаем жить в Африку! Поставим палатку где нибудь на пляже, и будем нырять - то к туристам, то к акулам (кто опасней узнаем в процессе).

Who are we?
Stasya and Shurik, nice to meet you. We are travelers just like you (unless you are not a traveler). Our trip around the world began in November '05 and we were not able to stop ever since.

We have traveled all over South and Central America via a variety modes of transportation, became DiveMasters, and decided to do all possible to continue life on the road.

We spent July '08 to May '09 on an ethno-zoological expedition to Africa with biologist and writer [info]vdinets and the project quickly evolved into a Russian language naturalist's guidebook to the continent.

June to Septenber, 2009 we spent in Indonesia and Malaysia collecting data for a mini naturalist's guidebook, and meeting with various interesting characters from the Russian travel writing community like [info]masha_kvashonka and [info]pavlyuk

On the 15th of December we'll be going back to Africa - this time to research and develop a route for Kenya and Namibia where we'll be taking people on tours. So ladies and gentlemen, it looks like we are moving to Africa! We'll drop our tent on the beach and dive between the sharks and the tourists (no idea which is more dangerous yet).

Hi. I've really been enjoying reading about your trip in the backpackers forum. If you ever make it back to Massachusetts, I'd love to hear more. My boyfriend and I just moved to the Boston area and don't really know anyone here. I've been to a mere 21 countries, and he's been to 30-something. :-) I hope you're having a great time and that you'll continue to update us!

Мексика и Теотихуакан - одно из моих самых любимых мест. Я там дважды была: один раз одна, а потом уже с мужем, пару лет назад...

В Оахаке еще здорово. Они там такие тлаюды на рынке пекут - язык проглотить можно.

Hey guys.

This is Dima. Ira's nephew from Staten Island. We actually met with Shurik some years back in New Jersey at Gypsy king gathering in some restaurant. You were running late from Boston. Anyway, it does not really matter who I am. I just heard about you guys from my Aunt, because she keeps in contact with Stasya's Mom. I found you here. I just want to say that what you guys are doing is great. Its very interesting to read your stories. I'll be traveling with you through these stories from now on. Not everyone can just drop everything and just be free. I am glad you guys were able to do it. Keep on going. Never stop.

Привет.
Слушайте, у нас к вам вопрос.
Несмотря на бордовские экзамены, мне удасться вырваться на месяц из США. С 15 мая до 15 июня.
Ищем, куда податься. Поскольку вопрос денег с повестки дня не снят, ищем в пределах Южной-Центральной Америки.

Самые дешевые авиабилеты либо в Гватемалу, либо в Коста-Рику.
Вопрос: где дешевле в плане жилье-отель-нац.парки (учитывая, что у нас нет своего средства передвижения) (в принципе, можем, наверное, машину в рент взять, если не дорого) или как в Ю.Америке все на автобусах.

ЛП по Коста-Рике есть (с прошлого года). По Гватемале пока нет, но можно купить, если поедем.

Короче, посоветуйте. Есть месяц. Паспорта у обоих американские, т.е. проблем с визами нет. Из Гватемалы можно и на юг Мексики проехать, ибо были только в Оахаке (в смысле, только на юге)

Man... My brain is sooooo fried from diving when I got your email I couldn't understand who you were.. Ter-Arsen-who? :) only when I saw the lj comment I realized. :)

Costa Rica should be very touristy (therefore expensive) but we are actually planing on going there a month sooner then you are, so if you decide to go there we'll have the freshest info. Maybe we'll cross paths there coz our plan is to fly out to FL (to take a road trip and then fly to Africa with Vova) around the 25th of May.

So in any case, Guatemala was very bearable budget wise and you probably remember my posts about ARCAS (animal rescue center) so my first recommendation would be to go there and volunteer for a week ($125 for food and bed) and Tikal, of course on the sunrise tour. You'll fly into Guatemala City and I can't tell you anything about that as we've never even stopped there. The famous lake Atitlan is there, in the South of the country, and Antigua, but I didn't find it all too exciting (largely because the amount of tourists). The only place in that area that I loved was El Baul (the big head). The Flores (Tikal) area has plenty of stuff to do: Ruins of Yasha and the barely uncovered La Blanca (I remember you were excited about that post) and there is an exciting trip to Mexico you can do from there, going across the river/border and through the ruins of Yaxchilan (Bonampac is not worth the money and headache). From there you can go to the ruins of Palenque, which is one of our favorite archaeological sits...

Have fun! It would be great to see you guys :) but if you choose Guatemala I wish you have the best time :)

a small Q. I am guessing you are preparing your Afrika trip. do you post your plans/prep tips/... anywhere? dont think you have a tag for Afrika just yet.

I'm just a tad behind now, I need to make a post about my birthday that was twenty days ago and then I can start talking about Africa. I think my first post for that area is going to be just hopes and fears... As soon as we'll have one Africa post, there will be an Africa tag :) As for preparations, we are not doing anything special. We are taking a few extra mousetraps ;) but the rest is the same as in the Inventory section in this post here.

Can I ask how you can afford to travel for so long? Are you doing casual work in each country, and if so, is this easy to come by (work visa required etc)?
